Terms of Use
Free to read, cite, and share — with a few reasonable limits to keep the site sustainable.
Last updated: 2 September 2026
1. Welcome
Election Result Online is a public reference site for Indian election results — Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha, bye-elections, party tallies, and constituency-level data compiled from official Election Commission of India records.
By using this website you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. For accuracy limits and liability, also see our Disclaimer.
2. Free to use
You may use Election Result Online at no charge and without creating an account. In particular, you are welcome to:
- Read and browse — open any page, search constituencies, and view maps and tallies.
- Cite in journalism, research, and education — news articles, academic papers, blog posts, presentations, and classroom material.
- Quote individual figures — e.g. vote counts, margins, turnout percentages, and winner names — in your own work.
- Share links — on social media, messaging apps, or embed links in your publications.
Attribution to Election Result Online (ideally linking to the specific page you used) is appreciated but not legally required for the underlying public election facts themselves.
3. What you may not do
To keep the service fair and available for everyone, the following are not permitted without our prior written consent:
- Bulk scraping or downloading — programmatically harvesting large portions of the database, sitemaps, or API responses to republish elsewhere.
- Commercial republication — reselling or redistributing our curated datasets as a competing data product (paid or free).
- Automated abuse — requests that overload our servers, bypass rate limits, or interfere with normal operation.
- Misrepresentation — implying that Election Result Online is an official Election Commission website or that we endorse your product or political campaign.
4. Election facts vs. site presentation
Vote totals, declared winners, and similar outcomes published by the Election Commission of India are public information. Election Result Online does not claim copyright over those underlying facts.
Our selection, normalisation, maps, charts, write-ups, page layout, and branding are original presentation. Please do not copy substantial portions of the site’s design or editorial content and pass them off as your own work.
5. Accuracy
We aim for accuracy from authoritative sources, but errors and delays can occur — especially in historical or live-counting data. The site is provided as is. For high-stakes uses (legal filings, official statistics, regulatory submissions), verify figures directly against ECI primary documents. Full details are in our Disclaimer.
6. Third-party links
Links to external sites (including official election commission portals) are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for third-party content, privacy policies, or availability.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of the website after changes are posted means you accept the revised terms. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised.
8. Contact & licensing
Need bulk data access, a commercial licence, or want to report an error? Use our Contact form — we are open to reasonable licensing requests and appreciate corrections with source links.
